Fear is something that kills more dreams more dreams than failure ever could. Our Start Kickin’ Booty group got together and we all set intentional goals for this year. Something that came up was fear. Fear is a very real thing that can halt you from perusing a dream or from giving it your all like you should. Remember that book project of mine…. I personally feel like I could be dedicating time, resources, and money to a project that I can clearly see no direction. At every point I feel like I reach a halting point and needing to retrace my steps and try again. They were all surprised to know that I am straight out fearful of a lot of things…. Failure mainly. So let me be very clear…. Fear is a very real thing for me as well.
Last May, (yes less than a year ago… crazy!) when we decided to create StartPlanner.com I was afraid we wouldn’t be able to piece all the pieces of the company together because we kept experiencing dead ends with everything we tried to accomplish. I just had a baby, and I already had a successful business so I had no business starting something else, but I just knew it was the right thing for me to do. I felt compelled to help get these in as many homes as possible despite not knowing if I would be wasting time.
October Jenny and I both went to Showit United were I was teaching others at that conference. Jenny and I were battling our own decisions there, trying to decide if we should order more 2016 planners. We didn’t have the immediate cash so when we were ordering additional inventory up front we had to whole-heartily believe in something that might not work. We took the leap and you know now…. but let me just say…. we almost didn’t. We almost allowed fear to stop us. We sold out in January and had we sold out sign on our store is not true. We would have sold out prior to Christmas and fear would have stopped us from allowing us to move ourselves full time to this business when we did. And now daily we get multiple emails hoping and begging that our Sold Out mark on the website isn’t true.
We are now coming out with two new lines and prototyping a specialty planner. I am also dreaming of one day being able to write a book but I am clueless on what waters to even navigate. So here is my point. When following a dream or pursing a path of your own….. there typically is not roadmap laid out for you. You have to make your own. You will have mistakes along the way, you will have to fix redo, keep trying and pushing…… but DO NOT LET fear stop you from chasing your dream. Find or create a support group to help push you when you don’t believe in yourself and make things happen! We created a support group with Start Kickin Booty with the original intention of us helping others…. but I think it has been quite the opposite as they have helped me just as much. It is amazing what can happen when you have a group of individuals that pushes and believes in you when you are doubting yourself! You got this!
