10 years. A decade. 365 days times 10. Doesn’t that seem like such a loooong time? It does on one instance but on the other it seems like it was not that long ago. 10 years ago on this day I was getting ready to marry the man of my dreams. I was completely smitten and being honest I for once in my life had no plan. Anyone that knows me, well knows I am one of the most logical individuals and I like to plan and have knowledge and variances with all the different outcomes. This was different I didn’t care, had no plan and was okay with it. To top it off only 3 weeks (3 weeks friends) after dating we got engaged and then only 3 short months after that (yes for reals) we got married…. which blows my mind.
I am not going to sit here and type that these has been the easiest 10 years of my life. Because well it hasn’t. Ten years ago I really had no idea who I was and I have grown up and figured me out while being married. As most of you also know our marriage didn’t start off like marriages normally do. 4 months after we said I do Jeremy had a brain hemorrhage, seizures, blood clots and was diagnosed with a life threatening condition. (you can read more about that here) Those years were hard on us both fleeting for normalcy. Then we found out we were expecting Roman…. which was scary and seemed sudden but he was our little miracle that shifted our focus off Jeremy condition and feeling sorry for ourselves and allowed us to see the world in a whole new way.
10 years ago I remember picturing having a family with a little house and now we have three beautiful boys and we both are following our dreams. I am not going to sit here and type and say it has all been roses and fairytale because well it hasn’t and if you are reading this I want to be clear with that because it has taken work. Real work. It has taken personal growth, selfishness, and it has taken us both learning to say sorry, it has taken us both to learn to put the other in front of our own needs. It has been ten years of trying, failing, succeeding, growing, parenting, sharing and learning what it REALLY means to love and support someone.

We took our ten year anniversary trip early because Jeremy is in school and has clinical rotations. We started our afternoon down by the beach and then made our way to a sailboat that lead us around the island. Seriously one of THE BEST trips and days EVA! These pictures were so good for our marriage and to remind us where everything started. I will treasure these pictures for a lifetime!
