6 weeks ago we went and bought 50 acres(well 48.48) in the middle of no where. It was my husband really leading the path wanting to do this and it first I was not on board. We have bounced around to beach house, lake house, and then finally property. When we asked ourselves the main goal of the property it was to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and just relax with being with each other, friends, and family. Property would do that and be something we could enjoy every weekend if we wanted too.
Personal goal for 2016 is for us is to build a “cabin” / “weekend escape.” Jeremy and I have two different tastes when it comes to style. He is more rustic and tends to lend to being a little more traditional, but anytime I have done something more industrial or modern he has loved it. I just don’t think he can envision it. He is that dude that walks into Restoration Hardware and says I will take the entire room. I like more modern/industrial with pops of rustic and I like piecing together rooms. With that being said he has given me some parameters of things he does want, but is pretty much giving me control to dream this up! I don’t know yet if it is realistic to say it will happen this year or next year My only realistic goal is to start working on this this year and get a plan together!
I figured it would be fun to take you guys a long on our journey with this property! So WELCOME!!!! As you can see there use to be an old road bed but this property has been abandoned for over 50 years.
When you get down to end of the road bed you come upon an old house.
Or what is left of the home. How cool is that though? The old fireplace, wood, and roof. Do you see the chimney stack for where the old wood burning stove was?
The wood on the home is AMAZING!!! We had planned to reuse the wood, metal on the roof and fireplace. The fireplace is not properly built though so it won’t be able to be saved.

Right down this hill from it is an old barn that is caved in. We are not exactly sure what it was used for but again some amazing wood!

I am not even sure what this is but some sort of ground cover fern. It is beautiful!
The property has two big streams on it. 
I can’t wait to get to spend more time here!
When we went a couple weeks ago we brought the two older boys.
We cleared a few paths, gathered some stones from the river and had our first fire!
